Removal
1. Remove the ignition coils.
2. Remove the spark plugs.
3. Raise the vehicle and place safety posts under the frame.
4. Unscrew the nuts securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold flange.

5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Loosen the exhaust manifold mounting bolts and remove the exhaust manifold.

7. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
Installation
Attention:
- Tighten the exhaust manifold mounting bolts to the recommended method. Improper installation of the exhaust manifold may result in exhaust leaks, which in turn will result in improper engine management and reduced OBD II diagnostic performance.
- The threads of the exhaust manifold mounting bolt holes in the cylinder head must be clean and free of old locking adhesive. Do not apply locking adhesive to the first three threads of the bolt.
1. Apply a bead of locking adhesive approximately 5 mm thick to the threads of the exhaust manifold mounting bolts.
2. Install the NEW exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold onto the cylinder head.
3. Install and tighten the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts from the center to the periphery. Tightening torque: 1st pass 15 Nm; 2nd pass 20 Nm.
4. Using a flat-head screwdriver or chisel, bend the tab on the rear of the gasket over the edge of the cylinder head.
5. Raise the car.
6. Check for the presence of an insulator on the catalytic converter.
7. Install the catalytic converter and tighten the mounting nuts. Tightening torque 50 N·m.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Install the spark plugs.
10. Install the ignition coils.
