Early models
1. Remove the instrument panel bezel.
2. Pull out the light switch, transfer case control buttons, courtesy lamp and air deflector louvers.
3. Disconnect the released wiring connectors.
4. Remove the light switch, transfer case control switches, courtesy lamp and air deflector louvers.
5. Remove the wiring harness support clip from the instrument panel bar.
6. Disconnect the two transfer case control unit connectors.
7. Move the wire harnesses to the left to clear the working space.
8. Rotate the control unit approximately 45° clockwise while pulling the unit out so that it can be placed approximately 90° from its original position.
9. Remove the control unit.
10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Late models
1. Disconnect the control unit connectors.
2. Release the fasteners and remove the control unit from the instrument panel bracket.
3. Installation is carried out in reverse order. After installation, start the engine and check the operation of the transfer case.
