Removal
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the transfer case protection.
3. Remove the front propeller shaft.
4. Disconnect the shift motor wiring connector.

5. Unscrew the electric motor mounting bolts.

6. Remove the electric motor.
7. Remove and discard the motor gasket (if installed).
Installation
Caution: If the electric motor is being replaced due to a fault, place the transfer case in neutral by manually shifting it before installing the new electric motor.
1. Install a new motor gasket. If there is no gasket, apply sealant to the threads of the motor mounting bolts.
2. Install the electric motor in place firmly by hand.
3. Tighten the mounting bolts. The tightening sequence of the bolts on the NVG 236/246 NP8 box is shown in the figure.

Tightening torque: NVG box 236/246 NP8 20 Nm; box BW4482-NR4 10 Nm.
4. Connect the wiring connector.
5. Install the front propeller shaft.
6. Install the transfer case guard.
7. Lower the vehicle.
