Brief information
1. The ESC system provides a delay of up to 20° in ignition timing, reducing detonation during fuel combustion.
2. The system uses a knock sensor, which is located on the right side of the cylinder block (see photo). When the sensor detects detonation, the ESC module disconnects the circuit to the ECM. The ECM, after disconnecting, retards the ignition timing until the detonation is eliminated.
Replacement of system devices
Knock sensor
3. Disconnect the battery from ground.
4. Drain the coolant from the engine.
5. Disconnect the wires from the knock sensor (the sensor is located in the timing chain cover).
6. Unscrew the sensor (see photo).

ESC Spark Control Unit
7. Disconnect the battery from ground.
8. The block is located near the throttle pipe (see photo).

9. Disconnect the connector from the control unit, unscrew the screw and remove the unit.
10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
