Attention! To avoid damage to the processor unit, before disconnecting the battery from ground or disconnecting the wires from the unit, turn the ignition key to the Off position.
Models before 1995.
ECM block
1. Make sure that the new block is exactly the same as the one being replaced, according to its numbers.
2. The unit is mounted under the instrument panel on the right.
3. Disconnect the battery from ground.
4. Remove the glove box.
5. Unscrew the bolts (see photo) and carefully pull out the block.

6. Disconnect the connectors and remove the unit.
7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
EPROM block (programmable memory)
8. The EPROM block is mounted inside the processor block (see photo). It can be removed and moved to a new block.

CALPAK Block
9. The CALPAK unit is mounted inside the processor unit and is designed for emergency fuel supply in case of failure of the processor unit. The CALPAK unit is removed through an opening in the processor unit housing.
Replacing EPROM and CALPAK chips
10. Remove the cover from the PROM/CALPAK units.
11. Remove the EPROM chip (see photo). Install the EPROM, using the recesses on the microcircuit body as a guide (see photo). Checking the correct installation of the EPROM by reading diagnostic codes is performed at a car service center.

Models since 1996.
12. On models from 1996, the powertrain control module (PGM) is located under the hood, near the left side wall of the engine compartment (see photo).

13. To replace the PCM unit, move the EPROM chip of the knock sensor to the new unit. After moving, the PCM unit should be reprogrammed in a car service center.
