1 - driver airbag, 2 - front passenger airbag. | 1 - curtain airbag, 2 - side airbag. |
The driver and passenger in front should be aware that if they are not properly fastened with their seat belts, they could be seriously injured, possibly fatal, if the airbag deploys. If braking unexpectedly before a collision, the driver or front seat passenger who is not wearing a proper seat belt may move forward close to the airbag, which could deploy in the event of a collision. To achieve maximum protection during an accident, the driver and all passengers in the vehicle must be properly fastened with seat belts.
Infants and children who are improperly seated or buckled in can be killed or seriously injured when an airbag deploys.
Children who are too young to use seat belts must be properly secured with restraints. The manufacturer strongly recommends that all children be seated in the second row seat and properly secured. The second row of seats is the safest for children.
Never install a child seat in a rear-facing front passenger seat with an airbag in front of it unless the airbag has been deactivated. The force of the passenger airbag deployment may press the child seat against the seatback, resulting in serious injury. If, by force of circumstances, you must install a child seat in the front seat, move the front seat as far back as possible, and install the child seat with the backrest.
Do not let your child get up and kneel in the front seat. The airbag deploys with considerable speed and force; the child could be seriously injured. Do not hold the child on your lap or in your arms.
Do not sit on the edge of the seat or lean over the instrument panel while the vehicle is in motion.
Do not place objects or your pets in front of or on the dashboard or steering wheel pads that contain the airbags. They can prevent the airbag from deploying or cause serious injury or death by being thrown back when the airbag deploys.
Moreover, the driver and the passenger sitting in front should not hold things in their hands or on their knees.
Do not modify, remove, strike or open any components such as the steering wheel pad, steering wheel, steering column shroud, front passenger airbag cover or airbag sensor assembly. Doing so may cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly or disable the SRS system.
Do not lean on the front door while the vehicle is moving, as the side airbags and curtain airbags inflate with great speed and force. This could result in serious injury or death.
Do not attach anything to or near the car door. If the side airbag deploys, this object may bounce and cause injury or prevent the airbag from working properly.
Use only original seat covers. The use of non-original covers may cause the side airbags to malfunction or prevent them from deploying.
