Crankshaft Position Measurement System Training (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

            0

1. Connect the scanner.

2. Read the fault codes recorded in the control unit memory. If other fault codes are recorded in addition to the P0315 code, perform the necessary repairs to the defective units.

Note: Code P0315 means that the crankshaft position measuring system has not been "learned".

3. Select the "Crankshaft Position Measurement System Training" mode on the scanner.

4. According to the scanner instructions, do the following:
  • a) Accelerate the engine at full throttle.
  • b) Release the accelerator pedal when the fuel supply is cut off.
  • c) Read the crankshaft speed at the moment the fuel supply is cut off.
  • d) The engine must not exceed the speed specified for the engine.
  • d) If the rotation speed is greater than the permissible value, close the throttle valve until the fuel cut-off point is reached.
  • e) Block the drive wheels.
  • g) Move the automatic transmission selector to position "P".
  • c) Turn on the ignition.
  • i) Press and hold the service brake pedal.
  • k) Start the engine at idle speed.
  • l) Turn off the air conditioner.
  • m) The scanner processes signals from certain sensors to determine whether the operating mode complies with the conditions of the "learning" procedure. The scanner only identifies the state that prohibits the procedure (operation of the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors and the thermal state of the engine).

5. Enable the "learn" procedure. Caution: During the "learn" procedure, immediately close the throttle valve when the engine speed starts to drop. The engine control is now transferred to the operator and the engine will respond to the throttle position after the procedure is completed.

6. Accelerate the engine at full throttle.

7. Close the valve after the fuel supply has been cut off.

8. Continue checking.

9. The scanner will show the "training" status (the procedure was performed or not).

10. After successful completion of the "training" procedure, turn off the ignition for 30 seconds.

11. "Training" of the crankshaft position measurement system must be carried out (regardless of the presence or absence of code P0315) at:
  • replacing the crankshaft position sensor;
  • engine replacement;
  • eCM replacement;
  • replacement of harmonic balancing;
  • crankshaft replacement;
  • any engine repair that requires removal of the crankshaft position sensor.
