Warning: Do not perform this procedure unless recommended by the on-board diagnostic system. Cleaning of the system must be performed at a service station using special equipment.
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Remove the fuel vapor canister purge valve.
3. Tap the valve lightly on a clean, hard surface.
4. Check that no carbon deposits have fallen out of the valve holes.
- If there is no carbon deposit, reinstall the valve and perform a system cleaning procedure.
- If carbon deposits are present, replace the valve and perform a system cleaning procedure.
- If the cleaning valve is replaced forcibly, and there were no deposits in the old valve, diagnose the system without cleaning it.
