Spark plug wires (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Examination



The integrity of the spark plug wires is vital to the proper operation of the engine. A thorough inspection is necessary to accurately identify conditions that may affect engine operation.

1. Check the spark plug wire routing. Incorrect routing may cause cross-firing.

2. Look for any signs of cracks or cuts in the wire insulation.

3. Inspect all covers, look for signs of ruptures, breakdowns, traces of spark discharges, contamination with carbon deposits, corrosion of contacts.

If any type of defect is found, replace the spark plug wires.

Removal



1. Remove the wire from the spark plug.
  • a) Turn the spark plug wire boot half a turn.
  • b) Pull the cover to remove the wire.

b) Pull the cover to remove the wire.


2. Remove the wire from the ignition coil.
  • a) Turn the spark plug wire boot half a turn.
  • b) Pull the cover and remove the wire.

Installation



3. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Check the reliability of the wire connection.
