Note. The front hub and front wheel bearings are one-piece and must be replaced as an assembly.
1. Loosen the front wheel nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and secure it to the stands. Do not place stands under suspension arms. Apply the parking brake and block the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling off the stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Disconnect the anti-roll bar from the suspension arm (see section 4).
3. Unscrew the nut that secures the ball joint to the steering knuckle and separate the suspension arm from the knuckle (see section 5).
4. Remove the caliper from the steering knuckle and install it to the side, hanging it on a wire (see chapter 9, section 3).
5. Pull the disc off the hub and remove the axle shaft (see chapter 8, section 2).
6. Using the Tox N55 head, unscrew the three bolts securing the hub through the hole in the flange (see illustration).
6.6. To loosen the hub bolts, you will need a Torx N55 head. Do not use a gas wrench for this purpose, otherwise the bolts may be damaged!
7. Rock the hub and bearings back and forth and pull it out of the steering knuckle along with the shield (see illustration).
6.7. Pull the hub, bearings and disc guard off the steering knuckle
8. If the hub is replaced with a new one, it is recommended to replace the boot at the rear of the steering knuckle. Remove it from the steering knuckle with a screwdriver (see illustration).
6.8. Remove the cuff from the steering knuckle with a screwdriver
9. Using a large diameter socket or a special oil seal installer, install a new oil seal into the steering knuckle (see illustration). Make sure that the cuff does not cover the holes.
6.9. Using a large diameter socket, install a new seal in place
10. Install a new O-ring around the rear of the bearing and press it against the knuckle flange (see illustration).
6.10. Hub details: 1 - hub, 2 - steering knuckle, 3 - shield, 4 - washer, 5 - hub nut, 6 - cuff, 7 - hub mounting bolt, 8 - O-ring
11. Clean the mating surfaces of the steering knuckle, bearing flange and steering knuckle bore. Lubricate the inner race of the bearing and the edges of the cuff with grease and insert the hub and bearing into the steering knuckle. Install the disc guard and insert the three bolts to the torque specified in this chapter's specifications.
12. Install the half shaft (see chapter 8, section 2).
13. Attach the suspension arm to the steering knuckle (see section 5).
14. Connect the anti-roll bar to the suspension arm (see section 4).
15. Install the brake disc and caliper (see chapter 9, section 3).
16. Fit the hub nut and tighten it securely. Prevent the hub from turning by inserting a screwdriver through the caliper into the vent hole in the brake disc (see chapter 8, section 2).
17. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the torque specified in the specifications of this chapter.
18. Tighten the hub nut to the torque specified in the specifications chapter 8.
