Removal
1. Loosen the wheel nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and securely support it on struts. Set the vehicle's parking brake and block the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling off the stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Unscrew the hub nut. Insert a screwdriver through the caliper into the disc vent hole to prevent the axle shaft from turning (see chapter 8, section 2).
3. Remove the caliper and hang it on a wire (see chapter 9, section 3). Remove the disc from the hub.
4. Mark the location of the two nuts securing the strut to the steering knuckle and remove them (see illustration 2.3). Do not remove the bolts at this point.
5. Separate the ball joint of the suspension arm from the steering knuckle (see section 5).
6. Remove the axle shaft from the hub (see chapter 8, section 2). Suspend the axle shaft with wire to prevent damage to the inner constant velocity joint.
7. Support the steering knuckle and remove the two bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a soft-faced hammer. Remove the steering knuckle from the strut.
Installation
8. Position the knuckle in the strut and insert the two bolts and nuts, but do not tighten them yet.
9. Insert the axle shaft into the hub.
10. Connect the suspension arm to the steering knuckle (see section 5) and tighten the tie bolt nut to the torque specified in the specifications of this chapter.
11. Align the marks on the strut-to-steering knuckle mounting nuts with the previously applied marks and tighten them to the torque specified in the specifications of this chapter.
12. Install the brake disc and caliper (see chapter 9, sections 4 and 3, respectively).
13. Tighten the hub nut securely.
14. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle and tighten the hub nuts to the torque specified in the technical data chapters 1.
15. Tighten the hub nut to the torque specified in the specifications chapters 8.
