Air suspension spring (rear) — removal and installation (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

Contents: Removal ↧ Installation ↧

Removal

1. Locate and remove the air suspension system fuse (see chapter 12).

2. Loosen the rear wheel nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle and place vertical supports under the frame rails. To prevent the vehicle from rolling, place chocks under the front wheels. Remove the rear wheels.

3. Support the rear axle housing by placing a floor jack under the differential. Move the axle so that the distance between the top of the axle shaft liner and the damper bracket matches the ground clearance "D" given in the specifications in this chapter. The bridge position must remain between the distance "D" and the full tilt position of the vehicle until the end of the procedure.

Warning: When performing the following operation, you must wear safety glasses and protect your ears.

4. Relieve pressure in the rear suspension system. To do this, you need to unscrew the bolts that secure the air suspension compressor to the frame side member. Disconnect the air supply lines from the fittings located on the side of the compressor that face the side member and wait for the air to bleed. Connect the air lines to the compressor, then install it on the vehicle frame and tighten the mounting bolts to the required torque.

5. Locate the raised lug on the outer edge of the air bag that is located at the top. Its location determines the location of the protrusion that prevents rotation. Press in the tab, turn the air spring counterclockwise and remove it from the upper seat.

6. Press the air line into the fitting located on top of the air spring, press the retainer and pull the line out of the fitting.

7. Disconnect from the lower seat and remove the air spring.

Installation

8. Install the air spring on the upper seat, align the mounting protrusions on it with the recesses in the seat.

Warning: Make sure the cushion is positioned correctly in the seats, otherwise it may collapse while the vehicle is moving. which will lead to loss of control.

9. The rest of the assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

10. Install the wheel and secure it with nuts. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the torque specified in specifications of chapter 1.

11. Check the functionality of the air suspension system by running the engine for 1 minute.

12. Recheck the ground clearance "D" (see item 3).
