Verification procedure
Important:
- Check all components and subcomponents and make any repairs necessary to correct damage. If damage cannot be repaired, replace component or subcomponent as directed.
- Rinse all components in cleaning solvent and dry with air.
Important: Replace if flange, tapped holes or splines are damaged.
1. Check flange (1) rear output shaft transfer case for corrosion, excessive wear, or damage.
Important: Replace oil slinger if damaged, cracked, loose or deformed.
2. Check oil deflector (2) rear output shaft of the transfer case.
3. Check bearing assembly (3) transfer case rear output shaft for burrs, spalling, or pitting.
Important:
- Check for cracks, broken areas or other damage.
- Check bearing races for burrs, dents on rolling surfaces, or pitting.
- Check the O-ring groove for porosity or damage.
Important: Scratches or dents in other areas can be repaired with light sanding.
4. Check crankcase (4) shaft of the rear output drive of the transfer case.
5. Check splines (5) rear output shaft of the transfer case for damage and press fit the flange.
6. Check rear output shaft (6) transfer case for pitting, excessive wear or damage.
