Find out if there are cracks on the suspension parts or traces of rubbing against road obstacles or the body, deformation of the levers, stabilizer bar, rear body parts at the attachment points of suspension units and parts.
Check the condition of rubber-metal hinges, rubber cushions, condition (draft) suspension springs.
Rubber-metal hinges and rubber pads must be replaced in case of ruptures and one-sided buckling of rubber, as well as when cutting their end surfaces.
On rubber suspension parts are not allowed:
- signs of rubber aging;
- mechanical damage.
On rubber-metal hinges are not allowed:
- signs of aging, cracks;
- one-sided buckling of the rubber array.
Replace defective parts.
When checking, carefully inspect the following.
1. Rubber bushings and tightening of the threaded connections of the lower lugs of the shock absorber mounts.
2. Check the condition of the shock absorber rod seals - fluid leaks and fogging are not allowed.
3. Check up fastening of the top support of the shock-absorber to a body.
4. Check with a mounting spatula the condition of the hinges (silent blocks) rear suspension arms. Resting the mounting blade against the body bracket, try to shake the suspension arm. If there is play in the hinge, replace the beam assembly.
NOTE: To replace the silent blocks of the levers, a press with a sufficiently large force is required. In garage conditions, in the absence of a press, you can only replace the beam assembly.
5. Check up a condition of bearings of naves of back wheels. To do this, hang the rear wheels and release the parking brake lever. Grab the tire from above and below, and then, shaking the wheel in a vertical plane, make sure that there are no bearing play. Replace defective bearings.
6. Inspect the rear suspension springs. If the coils are deformed or broken, replace the springs.
USEFUL ADVICE: Pay attention to the exhaust system. Extraneous knocks published by her are often mistaken for a knock in the rear suspension. The use of non-standard parts or the breakage of the muffler suspension elements can cause a strong knock, especially when re-gassing. When checking, stop the engine, inspect the exhaust system, check the reliability of the mounting and suspension of the muffler. Grasping the end of the exhaust pipe, shake the muffler up and down and from side to side - there should be no knocking.
