Models 1987-1994.
1. Disconnect the battery from ground.
Headlight switch
2. Loosen the screws securing the instrument panel trim panel (see photo).

3. Carefully disconnect the wire connector from the back of the light switch and remove the panel.
4. Loosen the headlight switch mounting screws and remove the switch from the instrument panel trim panel (see photo).

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Make sure that the ground connection ring is installed on the switch.
Headlight dimmer
6. The headlight dimmer is connected by a rod to the turn signal switch and is mounted at the bottom of the steering column.
7. Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the steering column to the bracket and lower the steering column (see photo).

8. Disconnect the connector from the regulator.
9. Unscrew the bolts securing the regulator to the steering column (see photo).

Starter Lock Switch/Reverse Light Switch (cars with automatic transmission)

Windscreen wiper/washer switch
11. Remove the steering wheel.
12. Press the retainer plate and, using a special tool, simultaneously remove the retainer mounting bracket from the steering column (see photo). Remove the retainer.

13. Remove the spring and cam of the turn signal switch (see photo).

14. Remove the hazard warning light button from the steering column.
15. Loosen the screws securing the turn signal switch (see photo).

Caution! Before disassembling, mark the location of the turn signal lever.
16. Disconnect the connector from the turn signal switch at the bottom of the steering column.
17. Remove the cover from the braided wire harness and route the turn signal switch harness through the steering column. Remove the turn signal switch assembly (see photo).

18. Use a paper clip to press the spring of the ignition switch to release the sound signal (see photo) and remove the horn switch from the turn signal switch housing.

19. Loosen the bolts securing the turn signal switch housing and the steering column (see photo) and remove the switch housing to the steering column.

20. Disconnect the handle from the wiper/washer switch by pulling the handle out of the switch. Gently rock the handle back and forth to avoid damaging the switch mechanism.
21. Remove the pin through the back of the switch housing (see photo) and remove the windshield wiper switch housing.

22. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Ignition switch
23. Disconnect the battery from ground.
24. Turn the ignition key to the Lock position. If the drum switch has been removed, pull the actuator rod until you feel it engage, then move the rod down one click.
25. Lower and secure the steering column.
26. Loosen the ignition switch mounting screws and remove the switch by taking it out of the pocket on the steering column.
27. Before installation, make sure the ignition switch is in the Lock position (see photo).

28. Attach the drive rod to the switch.
29. Press the switch to install it in place and tighten the screws.
30. Tighten the steering column bolts.
Steering column switches (direction indicator and steering wheel lock drum switch)
31. Remove the windshield wiper switch (see above), then remove the turn signal switch.
32. Remove the ignition switch.
Models since 1995.
33. Remove the steering wheel.
34. Remove the steering column cover.
35. Loosen the bolt, disconnect the connector and remove the switch (see photo).

36. Installation is performed in the reverse order. If necessary, center the airbag coil (the coil centering will be disturbed if the spring lock has been pressed and the steering wheel hub has turned together with the coil). To do this, follow these steps:
- a). Remove the airbag coil, turn the coil over and press the spring clip.
- b) Turn the hub in the direction of the arrow until it stops.
- c) Turn the hub in the opposite direction by 2.5 turns and release the spring retainer.
37. Install the wave washer and airbag coil (see photo). Take up any slack in the airbag coil wiring harness to keep it taut, otherwise the harness may be cut when turning the steering wheel.
