Air Conditioning Compressor — Removal and Installation (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Air conditioning compressor (models with mechanical control). 1 - air conditioning compressor, 2 - air conditioning compressor connector, 3 - pressure switch connector, 4 - pressure switch, 5 - engine oil level sensor, 6 - starter, 7 - crankshaft position sensor, 8 - starter connector.


Cadillac Escalade (models before 2005.)



1. Pump the refrigerant out of the air conditioning system.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).

2. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).


3. Remove the accessory drive belt.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the pressure switch.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the pressure switch.


5. Disconnect the hose mounting bolt (3). Tightening torque 48 Nm.



5. Disconnect the hose mounting bolt (3). Tightening torque 48 Nm.


6. Remove and discard all sealing washers.

7. Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the air conditioning compressor bracket. Tightening torque 50 Nm.

8. Remove the air conditioning compressor bracket.

9. Loosen the bolts (4) securing the air conditioning compressor. Tightening torque 50 Nm.

10. Remove the air conditioning compressor.

11. Drain the oil from the compressor and measure its quantity.

12. If the compressor oil is contaminated, replace the tube with the expansion nozzle.

13. If you replace the air conditioning compressor with a new one, add the required amount of oil to the system.

14. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

15. Evacuate the system and fill the system with refrigerant.

16. Using a special device, check the system for refrigerant leaks.

Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade (models since 2005.)



1. Pump the refrigerant out of the air conditioning system.

2. Install the puller into the transition hole.

3. Turn the air conditioning compressor drive belt clockwise and loosen the belt tension.

4. Remove the compressor drive belt from the air conditioning compressor pulley.

5. Loosen the belt tension slightly.



6. Remove the right wheel.

7. Remove the fender liner.

8. Loosen the bolt securing the refrigerant drain hose from the air conditioner compressor. Tightening torque 16 N·m.

9. Disconnect the hose from the air conditioning compressor.

10. Unscrew the bolt securing the refrigerant supply hose from the air conditioner compressor. Tightening torque 16 N·m.

11. Disconnect the hose from the air conditioning compressor.

12. Remove the sealing washers and discard them. Install plugs on the open ends of the tubes.

13. Disconnect the wiring connectors.

14. Loosen the bolts (3) securing the air conditioning compressor. Tightening torque 50 Nm.

15. Remove the bracket (1) from the compressor (2).

16. If you replace the air conditioning compressor with a new one, add the required amount of oil to the system.

17. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

18. Evacuate the system and fill the system with refrigerant.

19. Using a special device, check the system for refrigerant leaks.
