Removal and installation the rear shock absorber (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

            0

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of their technical condition.

Warning: Shock absorbers should be replaced in pairs, even if only one is faulty.

To complete the work you will need a car stand and a jack.

We carry out the work in the following order:

1. We prepare the car for maintenance and repair and install it on an inspection pit or overpass.

2. Place stops under the front wheels and lift the rear of the car. We remove the rear wheels.

3. Using a wire brush, clean the lower shock absorber mounting bolt and treat it with penetrating lubricant.

4. Place an adjustable stop (jack) under the spring support cup and use a 21 mm open-end wrench to unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting bolt.

5. Using an 18 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two upper mounting bolts and remove the shock absorber.

5. Using an 18 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two upper mounting bolts and remove the shock absorber.

6. Inspect the removed shock absorber. If there are signs of fluid leakage or the upper or lower mounting bushing is badly worn, replace the shock absorber.

7. Place the shock absorber vertically. By fully extending and retracting the shock absorber rod, we check its functionality. If you feel dips, jerks, or hear extraneous sounds when moving the rod, replace the shock absorber.

8. Using a jack or adjustable support, load the rear suspension, simulating the position of the rear beam on a car standing on a supporting surface.

9. Install the shock absorber in the reverse order. Tighten the mounting bolts and nuts to the specified torque.

10. Replace the second shock absorber in the same way.

11. Install the wheels and lower the car onto the supporting surface.
