Caution: Do not attempt to start the engine by pushing or towing the vehicle. This may result in damage to the catalytic converter, automatic transmission, and personal injury.
If the battery is low, you can use another vehicle's battery to start the engine.
Warning: Batteries are explosive. Electrolyte burn or short circuit may occur, resulting in serious injury or damage to vehicle parts.
- Do not use batteries near sources of fire or sparks.
- When starting the engine from another vehicle's battery, do not tilt the battery.
- Do not short-circuit wires.
- Protective goggles should be worn when working near the battery.
- Do not allow electrolyte to come into contact with eyes, skin, clothing, or painted surfaces.
- Make sure that the batteries in both vehicles have the same nominal voltage.
- Do not remove a discharged battery.
Warning: Failure to follow these safety precautions or neglect the following instructions for starting the engine from another vehicle's battery using extension cords may result in a battery explosion, electrolyte burns, or a short circuit.
All this can lead to serious damage to the electrical systems of both vehicles, as well as cause serious bodily injury.
Before starting the engine from another vehicle's battery:
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. If you have an automatic transmission, shift to PARK, if you have a manual transmission, shift the gear lever to neutral.
3. Turn off all electrical appliances.
Attention: Before starting the engine from the battery of another vehicle, turn off the audio system. Otherwise, it may damage it. The elimination of such malfunctions is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Warning: Keep extension wires away from rotating parts in the engine compartment. This can lead to serious damage to these parts.
Connecting extension wires
Extension wires are connected in the following order:
1. Mount one clip of the first jumper cable on the positive terminal of the auxiliary battery (determined by the sign "+" on the housing or battery terminal).
2. The other end of this cable connects to the positive terminal of the discharged battery (sign "+").
3. Attach the first clip of the second jumper cable to the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery (determined by the sign "-" on the housing or battery terminal).
Warning: Do not connect negative (-) discharged battery last in sequence.
This clip should be attached to some kind of metal engine bracket.
This bracket should be located as far away from the battery as possible.
Connecting the last clamp to the negative terminal of a dead battery can cause an electrical arc or battery explosion.
This may result in personal injury and damage to vehicle parts.
4. Connect the other end of the second jumper cable to a ground on the other vehicle, such as a steel bracket bolted to the engine block.
5. In the process of charging a discharged battery, the operation of the car engine is allowed, from the battery of which the engine is started.
After a successful start of the engine:
1. Carefully disconnect the ground wire (-). Start with a car with a dead battery. Do not turn off the car engine.
2. Disconnect the negative cable clamp from the other vehicle's negative battery terminal.
3. Disconnect the wire clamps from the positive terminals of both batteries. Place the extension wires in the trunk next to the spare tire.
4. After starting the engine, the car should be in motion for approximately 20 minutes. This is necessary to fully charge the battery.
5. If the battery is still discharging, you need to contact a car service.
