Front Wheel Hub and Bearing (4WD Models) — Replacement (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

Attention! The hub with the bearing is a non-separable unit. In case of bearing failure, the unit is replaced as an assembly.


1. Remove the hub cap and loosen the axle/hub nut 1/4 turn.

2. Raise the front of the car and place it on stands. Remove the wheel.

3. Remove the brake caliper, move it aside and secure it. Remove the brake disc.

4. Loosen the axle shaft/hub nut.

5. Loosen the bolts securing the hub assembly to the steering knuckle (see photo).

Please note: Some models have three hub assembly mounting bolts, some have four.


Loosen the hub with light blows and separate it from the steering knuckle. Press the hub assembly off the axle shaft with a puller.

6. Installation is performed in the reverse order. Lubricate the splines of the axle shaft. Tighten the nuts and bolts of the fasteners to the specified torque.
