2. Remove the shock absorber.
3. Loosen the stabilizer link bolt.
4. Disconnect the steering tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
5. Compress the suspension spring using the tool (see photo). The spring is compressed enough if it can be moved by hand.

6. Jack up the lower suspension arm.
7. Unscrew the bolts and nuts securing the lever axle (see photo).

8. Lower the lower arm and move it towards the rear of the car, then remove and take out the compressed spring.
9. If the spring is being replaced, carefully remove the compression tool from it.
10. Check the condition of the upper and lower spring insulating pads. If the pad is cracked or excessively worn, replace it. Check the condition of the spring coils. If the coating is damaged or there are signs of damage, replace the spring.
11. Install the spring compressor and new spring.
12. Place the compressed spring in place on the lower arm with the flat end of the spring facing up and the tapered end facing down. Make sure the spring is seated correctly on the lower seat. The lower coil of the spring should cover part of one of the drain holes in the lower arm, but the other holes should not be covered by the coil.
13. Jack up the lower control arm to position it in place on the frame. Tighten the control arm axle bolts and nuts. Tighten the nuts, but do not tighten them completely.
14. Remove the spring compressor.
15. Attach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
16. Secure the stabilizer link to the lower arm.
17. Install the shock absorber.
18. Jack up the lower arm under the ball joint to set the normal height of the arm in working condition. Tighten the bolts and nuts of the arm axle to the specified torque.
19. Install the wheel, remove the car from the stands.
