Air conditioning evaporator radiator (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal



Note: When installing the evaporator core, add compressor oil to the air conditioning system.


Cadillac Escalade (models before 2005.)



1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.

3. Pump the refrigerant out of the air conditioning system.

4. Remove the instrument panel.

5. Disconnect all wiring connectors.

6. Remove the lower air duct.

7. Remove the front side trim panels.

8. Remove the cover from the fan motor.

9. Remove the fan motor (5).

11. Lift the instrument panel.

12. Remove the engine cooling system expansion tank.

13. Disconnect the heater hoses.

14. Disconnect the evaporator tubes.

15. Remove the air conditioner battery.

16. Loosen the screws (1, 4). Tightening torque 2 Nm.

16. Loosen the screws (1, 4). Tightening torque 2 Nm.


17. Unscrew the nut (2). Tightening torque 3 Nm.



18. Loosen the screw (1). Tightening torque 11 Nm.

19. Remove the air conditioning unit (2) as an assembly.

20. Unscrew the seven screws securing the lower cover (8) of the evaporator radiator to the air conditioning unit.

21. Remove the heater radiator and seal from the air conditioning unit.

22. Unscrew the four screws securing the cover (6) of the evaporator to the air conditioning unit.

22. Unscrew the four screws securing the cover (6) of the evaporator to the air conditioning unit.


23. Remove the evaporator radiator.

24. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade (models since 2005.) - Visteon



1. Remove the air conditioning unit.

2. Disconnect the recirculation mode servo connector.

3. Loosen the evaporator radiator cover mounting screws. Tightening torque 2 Nm.

4. Remove the cover (1) from the air conditioning unit (2).

4. Remove the cover (1) from the air conditioning unit (2).


5. Remove the gasket (1) from the evaporator radiator tubes (2).

6. Remove the evaporator radiator from the air conditioning unit.

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade - Delphi



1. Remove the air conditioning unit.

2. (Some models) Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the pin (1) from the air conditioning unit (2).

3. (Models since 2007.) Disconnect all connectors from the fan motor, fan control unit and sensors. Also remove all wire clamps.

4. Loosen the air conditioning unit mounting screws. Tightening torque 2 Nm.

5. Remove the gasket from the evaporator radiator tubes.

6. Disconnect the upper part of the air conditioning unit housing (1) from the lower part of the housing (2).

7. Remove the evaporator radiator (1) from the top of the air conditioning unit housing (2).



7. Remove the evaporator radiator (1) from the top of the air conditioning unit housing (2).


Installation



8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
