Parking brake pedal (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal



Caution: The service procedure involves removing the front parking brake cable. The front parking brake cable cannot be replaced separately, only together with the brake pedal.


1. Remove the left door pillar trim panel.

2. Disconnect the parking brake indicator switch connector.

3. Lock the automatic parking brake cable adjuster.

4. Loosen the mounting bolt and disconnect the parking brake release handle from the front panel.

5. Without disconnecting the wiring connectors, remove the electrical distribution block from the left side of the front panel, secure the block to the side.

6. Raise the vehicle and place safety posts under the frame.

7. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the intermediate cable nipple by drilling a 3 mm diameter hole through the nipple recess.

8. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the frame by pressing the clips.

9. Lower the vehicle.

10. Loosen the brake pedal assembly mounting nuts.

11. Fold back the floor mat to expose the cable sealing plug in the floor.

12. Remove the plug from the floor panel.

13. Remove the parking brake pedal and front cable.

Installation



1. Route the front parking brake cable through the hole in the front floor panel, install the sealing plug.

Caution: Make sure the front cable plug is installed securely and correctly.


2. Put the floor mat back in place.

3. Install the parking brake pedal assembly to the side body panel.

4. Screw on the pedal assembly mounting nuts by hand, then tighten the nuts. Tightening torque is 25 N·m.

5. Connect the parking brake indicator switch connector.

6. Install the parking brake release handle to the dashboard.

7. Install and tighten the parking brake release handle mounting bolt. Tightening torque 9 N·m.



8. Install the door pillar trim.

9. Reinstall the electrical distribution block.

10. Raise the car.

11. Install the front parking brake cable to the frame and press the cable retainer into the frame.

12. Connect the front brake cable to the intermediate cable nipple.

13. Lower the vehicle.

14. Unlock the automatic parking brake cable adjuster.

15. Adjust the parking brake.
