Removal



External seal



1. Remove the axle shaft.

2. 8.6-inch gearbox: Use the puller (1) and inertia hammer (2) to remove the oil seal and half-axle bearing.

4. Installation is carried out in reverse order using mandrels. The seal must be installed flush with the bridge beam pipe.

Inner seal



1. Remove the axle shafts.

2. Remove the rear axle gearbox.

3. Assemble the puller:

a) Install the smallest expanding driver (3) and small washer (1) onto the expander (2).

b) Align the dividing lines of the driver and expander.

c) Install the expander assembly (2) onto the extension pipe (1).

4. Insert the puller assembly into the axle beam tube through the axle shaft seal.

5. While holding the expander nut, rotate the puller pipe clockwise until the expanding driver touches the seal.

6. Use a hammer to knock out the seal.
