Note: Before deciding whether there is a problem with the brake system, make sure that the tires are not worn and that the pressure in them is correct (see chapter 1), as well as in accordance with the standard geometric parameters of the wheel installation and the uniformity of the vehicle loading.
45 The car pulls to the side when braking
1. Oily or damaged brake pads on one side of the vehicle. Perform inspection as described in chapter 9.
2. Excessive wear of the brake pads on one side. Inspect and make any necessary replacements.
3. Loosening or disconnection of a front suspension element. Check the tightness of the fasteners (see chapter 10).
4. Caliper failure. Remove the caliper and check for piston seizure or other malfunction.
46 The brakes squeal when you press the pedal
1. Excessive wear of brake shoe linings. The squealing noise is produced by the wear indicator of the pads when they rub against the disc (not on all models). Replace the brake pads immediately (chapter 9). If the pads are completely worn out, the disc should be inspected for possible damage as described in chapter 9.
2. Oiling or contamination of brake pad linings. Make a replacement.
3. Incorrect brake pad type. Replace the brake pads in accordance with technical requirements.
47 Excessive brake pedal travel is noted
1. Malfunction of one of the system elements. Inspect the entire system (chapter 9) and fix the problem.
2. Insufficient brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. Please check (chapter 1) and if necessary add fluid and bleed the system.
48 When pressed, the pedal fails
1. Air penetration into the hydraulic system. Perform a pumping (chapter 9).
2. Failure of the brake hose. Inspect the hoses and tubes of the system. Replace if necessary.
3. Loosening of the master brake cylinder fastening.
4. Failure of the master brake cylinder (chapter 9).
49 To stop the car, you need to apply increased force to the pedal
1. Malfunction of the brake booster (checking is described in chapter 1, restoration - in chapter 9).
2. Excessive wear of the brake pads. Inspect and replace if necessary (chapter 9).
3. One or more caliper pistons are stuck. Inspect and replace if necessary (chapter 9).
4. Oiling or contamination of brake pad linings. Inspect and replace brake pads as necessary (chapter 9).
5. New brake pads that have not been broken in. Over time, the pads will rub against the discs.
50 No elasticity in the pedal stroke
1. Low or no brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir caused by a leak through the caliper piston seal, as well as loose connections or damage to the brake hoses. Inspect the entire system and troubleshoot.
2. Leaking of the master cylinder seals (chapter 9).
51 When pressing the brake pedal, a pulsation is felt
Disk failure. Remove the disc (chapter 9) and check its runout and the degree of deviation from the norm of geometric parameters. Perform mechanical treatment or replace the disks (in pairs on any of the axes).
