Front impact sensor (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal

1. Disable the passive safety system (see section "Disabling and connecting the passive safety system").

2. (Some models) Remove the engine protection.

3. Disconnect the holder from the sensor connector.

4. Disconnect the connector from the sensor.



5. Loosen the front sensor mounting bolts. Tightening torque:

• models before 2003 10 Nm
• models from 2003 9 Nm

6. Remove the front impact sensor.

7. Replace damaged front sensor mounts.

• a) Unscrew and discard damaged bolts.
• b) Use a chisel to knock off the damaged weld nuts.
• c) Treat the welded joint, clean and degrease it. d) Install new nuts on the fastening points.
• d) Weld on new nuts.
• e) Use appropriate bolts to secure the sensor.

Installation

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

9. Connect the passive safety system (see section "Disabling and connecting the passive safety system").
