Caution: Use oil-free compressed air to blow out fuel lines.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the fuel pump module.
3. Check the condition of the fuel pump module filter mesh, if the filter is dirty, replace the fuel pump module.
4. Check the condition of the fuel pump module inlet channel. If dirt or gum deposits are present, replace the fuel pump module.
5. Rinse the fuel tank with hot water.
Caution: When flushing the fuel tank, treat the water/fuel mixture as a flammable substance, observe fire safety precautions and dispose of waste properly.
6. Dry the fuel tank until all water is removed.
7. Remove the fuel manifold.
8. Drain the fuel from the fuel manifold. To completely clean the manifold, it will be necessary to remove the fuel injectors.
9. Blow out the fuel manifold and injectors.
10. Blow out the fuel pipes and hoses. Blow in the direction opposite to the fuel flow. Collect any remaining fuel from the pipes in a special container.
11. Install the fuel injectors onto the fuel manifold.
12. Install the fuel manifold.
13. Install the fuel pump module.
14. Fill the fuel tank.
15. Install the filler cap.
16. Connect the negative battery cable. Caution: If the fuel pump or sensor has not been replaced, flush the fuel pump.
17. Flushing the fuel pump:
- a) Disconnect the fuel tank fuel line from the chassis fuel line.
- b) Connect a hose of sufficient length to the fuel supply pipe.
- c) Insert the free end of the hose into an empty canister with a capacity of at least 4 liters.
- d) Fill the tank with approximately 20 liters of clean fuel.
- d) Turn on the fuel pump (using a scanner) and drain about two liters of fuel from the tank.
18. Check the system for leaks: a). Turn on the ignition for two seconds (do not start the engine).
- b) Turn off the ignition for ten seconds.
- c) Turn on the ignition (do not start the engine).
- d) Inspect the system, look for fuel leaks.
