Electronic fuel injection provides the optimum fuel-air mixture composition. This ensures engine operation with the lowest fuel consumption, which significantly reduces the toxicity of exhaust gases.
All the cars in question use a dual-nozzle throttle body injection system that forms a TBI module. The system is known as Model 220.
Automatic control of the TBI system is provided by the ECM electronic unit, which monitors the engine performance and regulates the fuel-air mixture in all engine operating modes.
An electric fuel pump located in the fuel tank together with the fuel level indicator pumps fuel to the TBI module through the fuel line and fuel filter. The regulator maintains a constant pressure in the injectors at a level of 0.5-0.8 atm. Excess fuel returns to the tank.
