Removal
1. Remove the large cover clamp.
2. Remove the small clamp of the cover.
3. Remove grease from the hinge housing.
4. Remove the shaft retaining ring using a clamp tightening tool.
5. Disconnect the drive shaft from the pivot assembly.
6. Remove the cover from the hinge assembly.
Caution: Do not disassemble the outer CV joint. The parts are tightly fitted and cannot be serviced separately. Improper reassembly can not only shorten the service life of the unit, but also lead to very dangerous consequences.
Installation
1. Install the new small clamp onto the boot. Do not snap it into place.
2. Install the boot onto the drive shaft.
3. Install the pivot assembly onto the drive shaft.
4. Install the retaining ring onto the drive shaft using a clamp tightener.
5. Fill the pivot joint with 120-140 g of the recommended lubricant. Fill the three-spike joint with 120-140 g of the recommended lubricant.
6. Install the new large boot clamp.
7. Secure the clamp using the boot clamp tightener.
8. Secure the new small boot clamp using the boot clamp tightener.
