Removal (for automatic transmission)
1. Remove the drive shaft. See the Drive Axle Assembly section in this section.
2. Remove the large cover clamp.
3. Remove the small clamp of the cover.
4. Remove grease from the joint.
5. Remove the retaining ring using the clamp tightening tool.
6. Remove the outer CV joint from the drive shaft.
7. Remove the cover from the hinge assembly.
Caution: Do not disassemble the outer joint assembly. The parts are tightly fitted and cannot be serviced separately. Improper reassembly will adversely affect both function and safety.
Installation
1. Install the boot onto the drive shaft.
2. Install the snap ring using the clamp tightening tool and install the drive shaft outer joint.
3. Fill the hinge boot with the recommended grease in the amount of 110-130 g. Fill the hinge body with the recommended grease in the amount of 110-130 g.
4. Install new large and small clamps.
5. Secure the new large and small clamps using the boot clamp tightener.
b. Install the drive shaft onto the vehicle.
