
The oil filter housing is located on the front side of the power unit, between the exhaust manifold and the clutch housing, and is equipped with a replaceable filter element. The need to remove the filter housing as an assembly arises when the housing is damaged or when oil leaks from under its mounting flange to replace the sealing gasket.
1. Remove the catalytic converter (see "Removal and installation the catalytic converter, replacing its gasket").
NOTE: It is necessary to remove the catalytic converter because it blocks access to one of the oil filter housing mounting bolts.

2. Remove the three bolts securing the filter housing to the cylinder block...

3. ...and remove the filter.

4. Using a screwdriver, pry...

5. ...remove the gasket from the groove of the filter housing flange.

6. Place the new gasket into the groove of the filter housing flange, then install the filter and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
