If the worn wheel is a rear one, place a jack handle extension on the handle.
1. Place a jack under the vehicle. If the worn wheel is in the front, place the jack on the frame behind the wheel. If the worn wheel is in the rear, place the jack under the rear axle between the spring and shock absorber.
2. With the UP mark facing you on the lever, raise the vehicle by turning the key and lever clockwise. Raise the vehicle enough to allow enough room to install the spare tire.
3. Remove all nuts and remove the worn wheel.
4. Wipe off any rust or dirt from the bolts, then install the spare tire onto the bolts.
5. Place the nuts and bolts with the rounded ends facing the wheel. Tighten each nut by hand and then with a wheel wrench until the wheel is pressed against the hub.
6. Lower the vehicle by turning the lever and wheel lug wrench counterclockwise. Lower the jack completely.
7. Tighten each nut clockwise.
8. Tighten the nuts firmly in a crisscross pattern. Turn the wheel wrench clockwise.
9. Replace the wheel spacers or plastic lug nuts on vehicles where equipped.
