Attention! In case of a leak in the seal or failure of the axle bearing, the housing assembly with the axle, bearing and seal should be removed and sent to a car service for replacement. Self-repair of this unit is impossible.
1. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.
2. Remove the front suspension stabilizer bar.
3. Disconnect the right inner steering rod (see Chapter 10).
4. Loosen the axle shaft flange bolts, move the axle shaft towards the front of the vehicle and secure it.
5. Disconnect the connectors from the thermal actuator and the indicator switch (see photo).

6. Remove the axle shaft shield.
7. Unscrew the drain plug from the main gear housing and drain the oil. Screw in and tighten the drain plug.
8. Unscrew the axle housing mounting nuts, remove the bolts and washers (see photo).

9. Unscrew the bolts securing the half-shaft housing socket to the main gear housing (see photo).

10. Remove the axle shaft, lifting it up slightly to drain the oil from the housing into the crankcase.
11 Installation is performed in the reverse order. Replace the gasket between the axle shaft housing and the main gear housing.
