Removal



Caution: Read the warnings in the chapter "Passive safety system".


1. Disable the passive safety system (airbags).

2. Remove the steering wheel.

3. Remove the steering column tilt adjustment lever from the lower housing.

4. If necessary, remove the two self-tapping screws (1) and (2) securing the lower casing (3). Remove the lower casing. If the casing does not have these screws, proceed to the next step.

5. Carefully pry the lower cover away from the upper steering column cover.

6. If necessary, remove the screw Torx (1) securing the upper casing (2). If this screw is not present, simply remove the upper casing.

Caution: Before removing the casing, check that the self-tapping screw (1) securing the casing (2) is present.




Installation



Note: If the plastic casing fasteners were damaged during removal, fasten the casings with screws during installation. If the fasteners are intact, proceed to step 3.


1. Install the top cover and tighten the Torx mounting screw.

2. Install the bottom cover and tighten the self-tapping screws.

3. Install the upper and lower casings on the steering column.

Caution: If the gear shift lever is mounted on the steering column, check that the gear shift boot is correctly secured with the casings.


4. Slide the gearshift boot along the gearshift lever to the installation location.

5. Carefully snap the covers together.

6. Install the tilt adjustment lever onto the lower casing.

7. Install the steering wheel.

8. Turn on the passive safety system.
