Rocker arms and push rods (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal



1. Remove the valve cover.

Note: Engine firing order is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3, odd numbered cylinders in the left half block.


2. Remove the spark plug from the first cylinder.

Attention: Place the removed parts so as not to mix up the installation location during installation.


3. Loosen the rocker arm mounting bolts.

4. Remove the rocker arms.

Note: On the L92 engine, the intake valve rocker arms (1) have an eccentric design.

5. Remove the rocker arm support.

6. Remove the push rods.

7. Wash and inspect the removed parts.

Installation



Caution: When installing valve train components that have been in use, always install the components in their original positions. No valve clearance adjustment is required.


1. Lubricate the rocker arms and push rods with engine oil.

2. Lubricate the rocker arm mounting bolt headrests (or washers) with engine oil.

3. Install the rocker arm support.

4. Install the push rods. Check that the rods are installed correctly.

5. Install the rocker arms and rocker arm mounting bolts. Engage the rods and rocker arms. DO NOT TIGHTEN the rocker arm bolts at this time.

6. Turn the crankshaft until the piston of the first cylinder reaches TDC of the compression stroke.

7. Tighten the exhaust rocker arm bolts for cylinders 1, 2, 7 and 8 and the intake rocker arm bolts for cylinders 1, 3, 4 and 5. Tightening torque 30 Nm.

8. Turn the crankshaft one revolution.

9. Tighten the exhaust rocker arm bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5 and 6 and the intake rocker arm bolts for cylinders 2, 6, 7 and 8. Tightening torque 30 Nm.

10. Install the spark plug of the first cylinder.

11. Install the valve cover.
