Valve stem seals and springs (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal



Attention: carry out work only on a cold engine.


1. Remove the valve drive rocker arm.

2. Disconnect the high-voltage wire from the spark plug:
  • turn the wire cover half a turn;
  • pull the wire from the spark plug by the cover.

3. Unscrew the spark plug 1 or 2 turns.

4. Clean the spark plug and the surfaces around the spark plug.

5. Remove the spark plug. Tightening torque 15 Nm.

6. Screw the adapter for compressed air supply into place of the spark plug.

7. Connect the compressed air supply hose to the adapter.

8. Apply compressed air to the cylinder to hold the valves on their seats.

9. Using a valve puller, compress the valve spring.

10. Remove the breadcrumbs (225).

11. Slowly release the spring.

12. Remove the valve puller.

13. Remove the spring plate (224).

14. Remove the spring (223).

15. Remove the oil seal (222), which is also the lower spring seat.

Installation



16. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Note: To make installation of the crackers easier, lubricate them with grease.
