Installation
Attention:
- Do not reinstall the crankshaft oil seal and front cover gasket.
- Do not apply any type of sealant to the front cover gasket.
- A special mandrel is used to center the front cover. If the cover is not centered correctly, oil may leak through the front seal.
1. If you are installing an old cover, proceed to step 9.
2. On LY6/L76/L92 engines, install the variable valve timing system magnet.
3. Check the condition of the camshaft position sensor sealing ring.
4. Lubricate the sealing ring with engine oil.
5. Install the camshaft position sensor.
6. Place the sensor wire bundle on the front cover.
7. Connect the wires to the sensor.
8. Tighten the wire harness mounting bolts. Tightening torque 12 Nm.
9. Apply a bead of sealant approximately 5 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length to the joints of the engine block and oil pan parting planes.
10. Install the NEW front cover gasket and front cover.
11. Hand tighten the bolts securing the front cover to the block.
