Removal



1. Remove the automatic transmission drive clutch.

2. Unscrew the bolts (1) securing the oil pan to the rear engine cover.

2. Unscrew the bolts (1) securing the oil pan to the rear engine cover.


3. Unscrew the bolts (517) securing the rear cover.

4. Remove the back cover (518) and gasket (519).

5. Remove and discard the rear crankshaft oil seal (141).

5. Remove and discard the rear crankshaft oil seal (141).


Installation



Attention:
  • Do not reinstall the crankshaft oil seal and rear cover gasket.
  • Do not apply any type of sealant to the rear cover gasket.
  • A special mandrel is used to center the rear cover. If the cover is not centered correctly, oil may leak through the seal.
  • The rear crankshaft oil seal is installed after the rear cover is installed.


1. Apply a bead of sealant approximately 5 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length to the joints of the engine block and oil pan parting planes.

2. Install the NEW rear cover gasket and rear cover onto the engine.

3. Tighten the rear cover mounting bolts by hand.

4. Install the oil pan mounting bolts to the rear cover, tighten the bolts by hand.

5. Turn the crankshaft so that two opposite threaded holes in the crankshaft flange are parallel to the parting plane of the oil pan.

6. Install the centering mandrel on the crankshaft flange. The conical projections of the mandrel should fit into the seal seat.

7. Tighten the mandrel mounting bolts by hand.

8. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts to the rear cover. Tightening torque 12 Nm.

9. Tighten the bolts securing the rear cover to the block. Tightening torque 30 Nm.

10. Remove the mandrel.

11. Install the NEW rear crankshaft oil seal.



12. Install the automatic transmission drive clutch.
