Warning: Allow the engine to cool completely before performing this procedure.
Removal
1. Drain the coolant (see chapter 1).
2. Remove the drive belt (see chapter 1).
3. Remove the radiator fan along with the shroud (see chapter 3).
4. Remove the coolant pump (see chapter 3), as well as a power steering pump (see chapter 10).
5. Remove the crankshaft pulley (see subsection 11).
6. Remove the engine sump (see subsection 16).
7. Remove the front casing bolts, starting with the 7 mm bolt located in the center.
8. Install two bolts through the front housing mounting holes. Gradually tighten the bolts, thus removing the casing.
9. If necessary, remove the oil pump from the front casing (see subsection 12).
10. Clean the mating surface of the front casing with a solvent, removing gasket residues. Inspect the surface for chips and other types of damage.
Note: To avoid damaging the housing surface, do not use power tools when cleaning (wire brush or disc with electric drill).
Installation
11. Align the spline connection of the oil pump and crankshaft (To do this, you will have to temporarily install a casing without a seal).
12. Remove the cover and apply a 5mm bead of RTV sealant to the mating surface and around the three bolt holes located inside.
13. Place the front engine housing in its original location without disturbing the alignment of the oil pump spline and crankshaft. Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley and center the seal on it to align the front housing.
14. Tighten all bolts with your fingers and then to the required torque. The last thing to tighten is the central bolt with a diameter of 7 mm (located just above the crankshaft centerline).
15. The remainder of the installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Fill with engine oil and coolant (see chapter 1), start the engine and check for leaks.
