Coolant Temperature Sensor (CT) (Chevrolet Aveo T250)

Contents: Removal ↧ Installation ↧
The coolant temperature sensor (ECT) is a thermistor (a resistor with a value that changes as the temperature changes) with a negative temperature coefficient of resistance installed on the engine water jacket. At low temperatures the sensor has a high resistance (100 kOhm at 40°C), while at high temperatures the resistance decreases (70 Ohm at 130°C).

The ECM supplies 5 V to the ECT sensor via the ECM resistor and measures the change in voltage. Coolant temperature affects almost all ECM-controlled systems.

If there is a fault in the ECT sensor circuit, a fault code P0117 or P0118 will be assigned. It should be noted that the assignment of these fault codes means a fault in the ECT sensor circuit.

Removal

Caution: Be careful when working with the coolant sensor. Damage to the sensor will impair the operation of the fuel injection system.

1. Release the cooling system pressure.

2. Disconnect the "-" battery cable.

3. Remove the coolant temperature sensor (ECT) connector.

4. Carefully remove the ECT sensor from the cylinder head below the ignition coil.

4. Carefully remove the ECT sensor from the cylinder head below the ignition coil.

Installation

1. Cover the ECT sensor threads with sealant.

2. Install the ECT sensor into the cylinder head and tighten the sensor to 20 Nm.

3. Connect the ECT sensor connector.

4. Fill the cooling system.

5. Connect the "-" battery cable
