Correction of brake disc runout (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

            0

Contents: Permutation method ↧ Method of mechanical processing ↧
There are two methods to correct brake disc runout. Determine the appropriate correction method.

The disk re-arrangement method is effective if the disk runout exceeds the norm by 0.025-0.127 mm. If the runout is greater, the method of mechanical processing of the disk on the car with a special lathe is used.

If the runout cannot be corrected by both methods, then the cause of the runout may be a defect in the mating parts.

Permutation method

1. Replace the brake disc and measure the disc runout until the runout becomes minimal.

2. Mark the final position of the disc if the new position is different from the original.

3. If the final runout is still greater than normal, apply the second correction method.

Method of mechanical processing

1. Connect the lathe according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2. After each pass, measure the thickness of the disc.

3. If the thickness of the disc becomes less than the permissible limit, replace the brake disc.

4. After finishing cutting, remove residual directional roughness with 120-150 mesh sandpaper using non-directional movements.
