1. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.

2. If the brake fluid level is in the middle between the maximum and minimum level marks, there is no need to remove the brake fluid from the reservoir before starting the check.

3. If the brake fluid level is above the middle, pump out the fluid to the middle between the marks.

4. Raise the vehicle and place safety stands under the frame.

5. Remove the front (or back) wheel.

6. Grasp the caliper and try to move it up/down and forward/backward relative to the support bracket. If excessive movement is felt, replace the bracket bushings and/or mounting bolts.

7. Insert the front brake caliper pistons into the caliper:
  • Place a large clamp on the caliper body and on the outer brake pad.
  • Slowly move the clamp jaws together until the pistons are fully seated in the caliper.
  • Remove the clamp.

8. Move the caliper on the support bolts. If the sliding resistance of the caliper is high or the sliding is not smooth, check the condition of the support bolts and bracket bushing. Replace the bolts and/or bushings if necessary.
