Models from 2004. (fuel filter in the fuel tank)
Attention:
- The fuel filter is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly located in the fuel tank and cannot be replaced without complete disassembly of the fuel pump assembly. Detailed description of the fuel pump assembly disassembly procedure (fuel filter replacement) given in the chapter "Fuel injection system".
- The manufacturer recommends replacing this type of fuel filter every 80,000 km of vehicle mileage. However, given the quality of gasoline in the CIS countries, it is recommended to replace the fuel filter when there are signs of its failure in order to avoid failure of the fuel pump.
Models before 2004. (fuel filter outside the fuel tank)
Note: The manufacturer recommends replacing the fuel filter every 50,000 km of vehicle mileage. However, given the quality of gasoline in the CIS countries, we recommend replacing the fuel filter when there are signs of its actual failure or every 20,000 - 30,000 km to avoid failure of the fuel pump in the tank.
1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system (see chapter "Fuel injection system").
2. Place the vehicle on a lift or over an inspection pit.
3. Unscrew the nuts securing the fuel quality sensor bracket.

4. Move the bracket/fuel composition sensor to the side.

5. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter.

6. To prevent dirt from entering the system, install a plug on the open end of the fuel line.
7. Using the special tool, disconnect the fuel line with the quick-release coupling from the other side of the fuel filter.

8. Remove the fuel filter from the bracket.

9. Install a new fuel filter.
10. Connect the fuel lines and install the fuel quality sensor bracket.
11. Start the engine and check for leaks.
