Checking drive belts
Check the drive belt for damage or excessive wear and make sure it is installed correctly in the pulley grooves. If the belt squeals or slips, check the condition of the pulley contact surfaces and the belt tension. If defects are found, replace the drive belt.

Caution: Do not apply oil or grease to drive belts.
Note: Separation of rubber from the cord on the inner side is not allowed (from the side of the ridges) and the outer surfaces of the belt, exposed or damaged cord, delamination of the ridges from the rubber base, presence of cracks, delamination or wear on the side surfaces of the belt and belt ridges.

Generator drive belt
1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the air filter outlet duct (see chapter "Injection system").
3. Install a socket wrench onto the accessory drive belt tensioner bolt.

4. Turn the tensioner clockwise until the belt tension is released.
5. Remove the drive belt (1) from all pulleys.
6. Slowly release the tensioner.
7. Clean and inspect the pulley surfaces that contact the belt. Replace the belt if necessary.
8. Place the belt on all pulleys except the idler pulley.
9. Install the socket wrench onto the drive belt tensioner bolt.
10. Turn the tensioner clockwise to the belt tension release position.
11. Place the belt on the idler pulley.
12. Slowly release the tensioner, tighten the belt.
13. Check that the belt is installed correctly on all pulleys.
14. Install the air filter outlet duct (see chapter "Injection system").
15. Start the engine and check the operation of the belt.
16. Close the hood.
Air conditioning compressor drive belt
1. Remove the alternator drive belt.
2. (Early models) Raise the vehicle, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the engine guard.

3. Insert the key into the square hole of the belt tensioner lever.

4. Turn the tensioner clockwise until the belt tension is released.
5. Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt.
6. Slowly release the tensioner.
7. Clean and inspect the pulley surfaces that contact the belt. Replace the belt if necessary.
8. Place the air conditioning compressor belt on the crankshaft pulley.
9. Insert the key into the square hole of the tensioner lever.
10. Turn the tensioner clockwise.
11. Install the belt on the tensioner pulley.
12. Place the belt on the air conditioning compressor pulley.
13. Slowly release the tensioner, tighten the belt.
14. Check that the belt is installed correctly on the pulleys.
15. (Early models) Install the engine protection. Tightening torque 20 Nm.
16. Install the alternator drive belt.
