CS-121D Generator Device (Chevrolet Aveo T200)

Generator CS-121D (the number means the outer diameter in millimeters of the stator plate) is a three-phase alternating current generator with an output three-phase full-wave rectifier (built-in diode bridge consisting of 6 semiconductor diodes). The charging voltage is regulated by an electronic voltage regulator included in the generator excitation winding circuit (rotor winding), which changes the parameters of the current flowing through the excitation winding. The regulator switches the rotor winding current on and off. By changing the on-off time, the correct average system voltage is achieved. At high speeds, the on time can be 10% and the off time 90%. At low speed and high electrical load, the on time can be 90% and the off time 10%.

The charging process is monitored by an indicator lamp located on the instrument panel. If the charging indicator lamp lights up while the engine is running, this indicates a malfunction in the charging system.
