Headlights
Chevrolet Aveo cars are equipped with block headlights (figure 10.5), combining low and high beam headlights (with single-filament lamps), side lights and direction indicators.

NOTE: The headlights are equipped with halogen headlamps. A buffer gas - halogen vapors - is added to their cylinders (bromine or iodine), which increases the lamp life to 2000-4000 h and allows to increase the spiral temperature. In this case, the working temperature of the spiral is approximately 3000°K.
In a conventional lamp, an electric current passes through a tungsten filament, heating it to a high temperature. As the filament heats up, it begins to glow. However, due to the high operating temperature, tungsten atoms constantly evaporate from the surface of the filament and are deposited (condense) on cooler surfaces of the bulb, limiting the life of the lamp and causing it to darken. In a halogen lamp, the iodine surrounding the filament (together with residual oxygen) chemically combines with the evaporated tungsten atoms, preventing the latter from settling on the bulb. This process is reversible: at high temperatures near the spiral, the compound disintegrates into its constituent substances. Tungsten atoms are released either on the spiral itself or near it. As a result, tungsten atoms return to the spiral, which increases the operating temperature of the lamp (to obtain brighter light) and extend its service life.
The low and high beam headlights are switched on by the left steering column switch - the external lighting switch via a load-bearing relay located in the mounting block in the engine compartment. The control voltage is supplied to the windings of the high beam headlight relay from the external lighting switch if it is in the headlight on position. Regardless of the position of the external lighting switch, you can briefly switch on the high beam headlights by moving the switch lever towards you.
Fog lights
In the variant version, fog lights can be installed in the lower part of the front bumper.
Rear lights
The rear lights contain brake lights, side lights, direction indicators, reversing lights and fog lights.
Rear fog light
The fog lamp in the left rear light is switched on by pressing the lower button of the exterior lighting control unit only if the headlights are on. When the parking light is switched off, the rear fog light is switched off automatically.
Direction indicators
The direction indicators are installed in the headlights, rear and side lights. The right or left turn indicators are switched on by the left steering column switch.
In the hazard warning mode, the hazard warning switch turns on all direction indicators. Flashing of the lamps is provided by the hazard warning flasher relay.
Electric headlight corrector
The electric headlight corrector allows you to change the direction of the headlight beam in the vertical plane depending on the vehicle load.
License plate lights
The number plate lights are located on the tailgate or in the trunk lid at the top of the number plate recess.
