Headlights
Block headlights are installed on Chevrolet Aveo cars (pic. 10.5), combining low beam and high beam headlights (with single filament lamps), parking lights and direction indicators.
NOTE: The headlamps are fitted with halogen headlamps. Buffer gas added to their cylinders - halogen vapors (bromine or iodine), which increases the lamp life up to 2000-4000 h and allows you to increase the temperature of the spiral. The operating temperature of the coil is approximately 3000°K.
In a conventional lamp, an electric current passing through a tungsten filament heats it up to a high temperature. When heated, the spiral begins to glow. However, due to the high operating temperature, tungsten atoms are constantly evaporating from the surface of the spiral and deposited (condense) on cooler bulb surfaces, limiting bulb life and causing bulb darkening. In a halogen lamp, the iodine surrounding the coil (together with residual oxygen) enters into a chemical combination with the evaporated tungsten atoms, preventing the deposition of the latter on the flask. This process is reversible: at a high temperature near the helix, the compound decomposes into its constituent substances. The tungsten atoms are released either on the helix itself or near it. As a result, the tungsten atoms return to the helix, which makes it possible to increase the operating temperature of the lamp (for brighter light) and extend its service life.
The dipped and main beam headlights are switched on by the left steering column switch - the outdoor lighting switch through the unloading relay located in the mounting block in the engine compartment. Control voltage is applied to the high beam relay coils from the ambient light switch when it is in the headlights on position. Regardless of the position of the outdoor light switch, you can turn on the main beam headlights briefly by moving the switch lever towards you.
Fog lights
In a variant, fog lamps can be installed in the lower part of the front bumper.
Rear lights
The taillights are equipped with brake and side lights, direction indicators, reversing light, fog light.
Rear fog light
The fog light lamp in the left rear light is turned on by pressing the lower button of the exterior lighting control unit only if the headlights are on. When the side light is turned off, the rear fog light turns off automatically.
Direction indicators
Direction indicators are installed in the headlights, rear and side lights. Right or left turn indicators are switched on by the left steering column switch.
In alarm mode, the alarm switch turns on all direction indicators. The flashing of the lamps is provided by the alarm breaker relay.
Headlight electric corrector
The headlight electric corrector allows you to change the direction of the headlight beam in a vertical plane depending on the load of the car.
License plate lights
The license plate lights are located on the tailgate or in the boot lid at the top of the license plate recess.
