1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove the cap from the master cylinder reservoir.
3. Grab the edge of the strainer with pliers...
4.... and remove it from the tank.
5. Pump out, for example, with a large medical syringe, brake fluid from the section of the reservoir of the main brake cylinder that feeds the clutch release hydraulic actuator.
NOTE: The reservoir shared between the brake and clutch master cylinders consists of three separate sections: two for separate brake circuits and one for the clutch release.
6. Remove the battery (see «Removing and installing the battery», With. 216).
7. Slide the lock of the retainer of the locking bracket of the wiring harness block of the hydroelectronic module of the anti-lock braking system...
8.... press the latch...
9.... fold down the bracket...
10.... and disconnect the block from the module.
11. Unscrew the two nuts securing the bracket of the hydroelectronic module to the mudguard of the engine compartment...
12.... remove from the holders on the bulkhead three brake pipes attached to the hydro-electronic module...
13.... and take the module aside without disconnecting the brake pipes from it.
NOTE: Removal of the hydraulic module is required to gain access to the clutch release master cylinder.
14. Disconnect the clutch release master cylinder supply hose from the brake master cylinder reservoir fitting.
15. Use a screwdriver to pry off the spring retainer of the damper of the main cylinder of the hydraulic clutch release...
16.... raise the latch to its highest position...
17.... and disconnect the damper from the main cylinder.
18. Under the instrument panel, unscrew the two nuts securing the master cylinder of the clutch release drive to the bulkhead.
19. Disconnect the pusher of the master cylinder of the clutch release drive from the clutch pedal by squeezing the tabs of the pusher lock...
NOTE: Shown with pedal assembly removed for clarity.
20.... and remove the master cylinder.
21. Disconnect the supply hose from the master cylinder.
22. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal, and bleed the air from the hydraulic actuator (see «Bleeding the hydraulic clutch release»).
