1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the master cylinder reservoir cap.

3. Use pliers to grasp the edge of the mesh filter...

4. ...and remove it from the tank.

5. Use, for example, a large medical syringe to pump out the brake fluid from the section of the master cylinder reservoir that supplies the clutch release hydraulic drive.
NOTE: The reservoir, common to the brake and clutch master cylinders, consists of three separate sections: two for the separate brake hydraulic circuits and one for the clutch hydraulic circuit.

6. Remove the battery (see "Removing and installing the battery", p. 216).

7. Slide the lock of the locking bracket of the connector of the wiring harness of the hydroelectronic module of the anti-lock brake system...

8. ...press the latch...

9. ...fold back the bracket...

10. ...and disconnect the connector from the module.

11. Unscrew the two nuts securing the hydraulic electronic module bracket to the engine compartment mudguard...

12. ... remove the three brake pipes connected to the hydraulic electronic module from the holders on the front shield...

13. ...and move the module to the side without disconnecting the brake pipes from it.
NOTE: Removal of the hydraulic electronic module is necessary to gain access to the clutch release master cylinder.

14. Disconnect the supply hose of the clutch release master cylinder from the nipple of the brake master cylinder reservoir.

15. Use a screwdriver to pry up the spring retainer of the clutch release master cylinder damper...

16. ...raise the lock to its highest position...

17. ...and disconnect the damper from the master cylinder.

18. Under the instrument panel, unscrew the two nuts securing the clutch release drive master cylinder to the front shield.

19. Disconnect the clutch release master cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal by squeezing the push rod retainer tabs...
NOTE: Shown with pedal assembly removed for clarity.

20. ...and remove the master cylinder.

21. Disconnect the feed hose from the master cylinder.
22. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal and bleed the hydraulic drive (see "Bleeding the clutch release hydraulic drive").
