Automatic transmission control cable — adjustment (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Adjustment



1. Make sure that the automatic transmission selector on the steering column is in the "P" position.

2. Raise the vehicle and place safety stands under the frame.

3. Make sure that the manual transmission control shaft is set to the parking position.

4. Take the cable end (1) in your left hand and the end (2) in your right hand.

5. Align the outer diameter of the tip (2) with the inner diameter of the tip (1).

6. Press the end (3) of the cable until the blue spring (2) is fully compressed, this will connect both wires of the cable.

Caution: When compressing the spring (2), do not hold the end (1), this will lead to misalignment of the cable.




7. Release the tip (3) and allow the spring (2) to tighten (adjust) assembly of the cable.

9. Press the unpainted locking button (4) to lock the tip (3).

11. Make sure that the white cover (1) covers the unpainted locking button (2).

12. If the cover (1) does not cover the button (2), the cable must be adjusted, see below.

13. Lower the vehicle.

14. Check that the automatic transmission modes are switched correctly.

15. If the mode switching is incorrect, the cable must be adjusted, see below.

Adjustment



1. Move the automatic transmission selector on the steering column to position "P".

2. Raise the car.

3. Make sure that the manual transmission control shaft is set to the parking position.



4. Pull the white cover (1) back until the unpainted button (2) is exposed.

Insert a flat-head screwdriver under the button (2) onto the lock ramp located at the top of the lock. The lock will open and the cable will move slightly away from the tip.

5. Next, perform the cable adjustment operations from point 6 of the adjustment.
