Removal and installation the drive shaft-gear with the control valve (Chevrolet Aveo T200)

Removal



1. Remove the rack and pinion assembly from the vehicle.

2. Unscrew the protective threaded cap.

3. Holding the shaft, unscrew the lower nut.

4. Mark the location of the shaft head groove on the housing to facilitate installation of the gear and valve assembly.

5. Remove the upper retaining ring from the housing.

6. Remove the drive shaft assembly from the housing.

6. Remove the drive shaft assembly from the housing.


Note: If the shaft head is not held, damage to the gear teeth will occur.


Remove the drive shaft from the housing carefully, otherwise the shaft, bearing and seal may be damaged.

7. Remove the shaft dust seal and bearing.

Installation



Note: When assembling, soak all newly installed components in hydraulic fluid (DEXRON).




1. Install the bushing and new lower valve gear seal.

2. After installing the valve and gear assembly into the housing, make sure that the groove on the shaft head and the mark on the housing match.

3. Holding the shaft with a wrench, tighten the lower gear nut to a torque of 30 Nm.

Note: Be careful when installing the drive shaft into the housing, otherwise the shaft, bearing and seal may be damaged.
