1. Remove the floor tunnel lining (see "Removal and installation the floor tunnel lining").

2. Pry it off with a screwdriver.

3. ...slide the gear selector cable end lock...

4. ...and disconnect the cable from the gearshift lever.

5. Use pliers to squeeze the shift cable housing retainer...

6. ...and remove the cable from the slot in the gearshift lever bracket.
7. Disconnect the gear selection cable in the same way (with a white shell).

8. In the engine compartment, use a screwdriver to pry up the tip of the gear shift cable...

9. ...and disconnect the cable end from the gearbox lever, overcoming the elastic resistance of its spring retainer.

10. Use a screwdriver to pry up the tip of the gear selection cable...

11. ...and disconnect it from the gearbox lever, overcoming the elastic resistance of the spring retainer.

12. Move the gear selector cable housing stop lock back...
NOTE: For clarity, shown with battery and battery mounting shelf removed.

13. ...and remove the stop from the bracket on the gearbox.

14. Similarly, disconnect the gear selection cable stop from the bracket.

15. In the car interior, under the instrument panel, remove the cable seal from the hole in the front shield and remove the cables into the interior.
16. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
17. Adjust the gearbox control drive (see "Adjusting the manual transmission control drive").
