Note: Adjustment is performed with the steering gear removed.
1. Using a special key, tighten the adjusting nut assembly until the thrust bearing is fully seated in the steering gear housing. Tighten the assembly. Tightening torque 29.5 N·m.

2. Place a mark (1) on the steering gear housing opposite the center of one of the two holes (2) in the adjusting nut assembly.

3. Measure 13 mm counterclockwise from the first mark.

4. Apply a second mark on the body.
5. Using a special key, turn the adjusting nut assembly counterclockwise to an angle of 22-32 degrees (until the hole in the nut is aligned with the second mark on the body).
6. Install the lock nut.
7. Hold the adjusting nut assembly from turning.
8. Tighten the lock nut. Tightening torque 109 N·m.

9. Adjust the preload of the center position of the bipod shaft.
